AIR ATTACKS
ON JAPANESE TRANSPORTS ATTEMPTING TO LAND TROOPS IN MALAYA. FIGHTING IN KOTABARU AREA. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.55 a.m.) LONDON, December 8. A Singapore communique states: “The R.A.F. and the Royal Australian Air Force carried out extensive attacks on enemy transports attempting to land troops in Malaya. Confused fighting continues in the Kotabaru area. Additional enemy troops have landed at Singora. “Japanese planes' bombed Sungei Patani, on the west coast of Malaya.”
BASES & PORTS
THROUGHOUT PHILIPPINES. BOMBED BY JAPANESE. (Received This Day, 11.30 a.m.) MANILA, December 8. The Associated Press of America’s correspondent says the Japanese bombed military bases and ports throughout the Philippines today, including the big port of Stotensburg; also Parkfield, Baguio, Davao, Aparri and the Batan Islands group. Two raids on the Philippines yesterday by high-flying Japanese bombers caused at least 290 casualties. Japanese plane losses are reported to be high.
The raiders dropped leaflets promising liberation for the Philippines.

NO LOSSES
AND HEAVY DAMAGE DONE. ACCORDING TO JAPANESE. (Received This Day, Noon.) TOKIO, December 8. The Navy section of the Imperial Headquarters claimed that two American battleships w*ere sunk, four others damaged and four heavy cruisers damaged at Pearl Harbour by Japanese naval bombers, during yesterday’s attack. The statement said there were no Japanese losses.

AGAINST JAPAN
SEVERAL LATIN REPUBLICS & HAITI. , (Received This Day, 12.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, December 8. Haiti has declared war against Japan and pledged full assistance to the United States. Honduras has also declared war against Japan and martial law has been established throughout the republic. President Übrico has sent a message to President Roosevelt, pledging Guatemala’s solidarity with the United States against Japan. Salvador has declared war against Japan. The Cuban Cabinet has decided to ask Congress to declare war against Japan.
