INTER-CENTRE VISIT
WAIRARAPA v MANAWATU. SIX WINS EACH. On Saturday six Wairarapa teams journeyed to Palmerston North to play in the annual inter-centre fixture. The morning games were played on the Terrace End green, where the visitors were welcomed by Mr J. A. Nash, president of the Manawatu Centre. Mr Howe, president of the Terrace End Club, also extended a welcome to the visitors. In his reply, Mr G. Hayne, president of the Wairarapa Centre, thanked the Manawatu Centre for its representations to the parent body on behalf of the minor centres, although Manawatu with a membership of 1000 could no longer be- deemed a minor centre. The visitors, led by Mr J. Connell, then rendered their song of goodwill, which was thoroughly enjoyed. The results of the morning games were as follow: Whale, Ferguson, Dixon, Shearer (si defeated R. Robertson, Royal, W. Robertson. Corbridge (s), Manawatu, 13/12; Wall, Reader, Fenton, Braggins (s) lost to Allen, Kells, Miljls, Howe (s), Terrace End, 13/17; Davis, Brown, Wallace, Burke (s) defeated Cantwell, Collier, Law, Hausman (s), Oroua, 21/13; Anstice, Connell, Holdsworth, Chaprhan (s) lost to Field, Ball, Smith, Hearsey (s), Takaro, 11/21; Cody, Daniell, Lewis, Hayne (s) lost to Swinburn, Wimsett, Wood, ‘Nash (s), official, 13/20; White, Newton, Carr, H. Smith (s) defeated Lovett, Eaglesome, Lovelock, Stubbs (s), Hokowhitu, 16/15. Manawatu 3 games (98 points), Wairarapa 3 games (87 points). Morning tea, provided by the ladies of the Terrace End Club, was greatly appreciated, and led by Mr Hayne they were accorded musical honours.
The afternoon games were played on one of the Northern Club's greens, which had a perfect surface, and resulted as follows: White, Newton. Carr, H. Smith (s) defeated T. Smith, Swinbourne, Wood, McDonald (s) Northern 21/10; Whale, Ferguson, Dixon, Shearer (s) defeated Morgan, Frew, Smith, Bovis (s) Takaro, 28/15; Anstice, Connell, Holdsworth, Chapman (s) defeated Bartholomew, Johnson, Duncan, Williams (s) Feilding, 24/17; Davis, Brown, Wallace, Burke (s) lost to Kogswell, Lett, Winks, Taylor (s) Manawatu, 15/21; Wall, Reader, Fenton, Braggins (s) lost to Reay, Barry, Anderson, Dixon (s) Terrace End, 15/33; Cody, Daniell, Lewis, Hayne (s) lost to Lovett, Hood, Thomson, Lynch (s) Hokowhitu, 13/35. Manawatu 3 games (131 points), Wairarapa' 3 games (116 points).
PARK CLUB
COMPETITION GAMES,
During the week the chief interest has been centred in the championship. The first round of the singles must be completed by Saturday. In the only game played to date R. Simpson defeated C. Moore, 22-11. Lee and O’Don-
nell retained the Medals by defeating Davis and Moore, 29/10. After a very hard fought game Moore and Osborne lost the Ferns to Wallace and Simpson, 23/20. Simpson secured an early lead, the board reading 20-9 on the 12th end. Osborne then dominated the play, but just failed to overtake his opponent. The Park employees (Trevorrow, P. Thompson, Knowles, Ihaka, s), 31, had no difficulty in retaining the trophy in a game with Read, Grantham, Torraijce, Simpson (s), 15.
