LOCAL CHURCH HISTORY (To the Editor.) Sir, —For the especial benefit of your journal’s Featherston district readers attending the recent Confirmation service held in St. John’s Church when Bishop Holland added a further nineteen names to its Communion roll, might this writer be permitted to recall briefly from past church recordsthe two memorable visits of the late Bishop Hadfield to the said township, and for a similar purpose, in the years respectively 1881 and 1888, when the following ten first candidates were enrolled: Peter Cameron, William John Viles, Elizabeth Bidwill, Eliza Bidwill, Jessie Bidwill, Emma Matilda Hodder.
