FINLAND’S AIMS
STATED BY MARSHAL MANNERHEIM MUST HAVE BETTER FRONTIERS. MISTRUST OF RUSSIA. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.15 p.mj LONDON, November 30. The Finnish Commander-in-Chief, Marshal Mannerheim, has sent a message to the Finnish Parliament, stating: “Our strategic aims will soon be / We do not want an imperialist war, but must have. frontiers better than the present ones.” M. Rangell, in a speech, declared: “Russia does not keep her promises. Our security can be achieved only by shortening the frontier and moving it farther eastward. England threatens war. It would be regrettable if she reached the opinion that British interests demanded that Finland, against her will, should be dragged into the big war. Finland hopes that FinnishAmerican friendship will be maintained. The United States made proposals to Finland of such a nature that they would have improved the Russian military position at the expense of Finland. It is hoped that America will give attention to these facts in our reply because, in discussions concerning our security, we cannot deviate from the lines stated'in it.”
