A MESSAGE FROM WARM SPRINGS, GEORGIA,'WHERE PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT HAS BEEN SPENDING A FEW DAYS ON HOLIDAY, STATES THAT THE PRESIDENT IS RETURNING TO WASHINGTON IMMEDIATELY ON ACCOUNT OF INCREASINGLY GRAVE DEVELOPMENTS IN THE FAR EAST. *’ Mr Roosevelt’s return follows on a long telephone conversation with the Secretary of State, Mr Cordell Hull. President Roosevelt will immediately see Mr Hull and possibly the Secretary of the Navy and Secretary of- the Army Departments. The President’s action is attributed to the statements of the Japanese Prime Minister, General Tojo, who has said that Japan will “eliminate with a vengeance’-’ British and American interests in East Asia.
