R.A.F. HARD AT IT
BATTLEFIELD OPERATIONS AND ATTACKS ON ENEMY BAS'ES. DAMAGE DONE TO TANKS & TRANSPORT. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.20 a.m.) RUGBY, November 30. A R.A.F. Middle East communique states: “Bomber and fighter aircraft of the R.A.F. attacked motorised forces in the El Adem and Sidi Rezegh areas yesterday and numerous fires broke out in various groups of enemy motor transport and tanks. Bombs were
seen to burst among tents and storage dumps. In aerial combats over the battle area one R.H.O. and an unidentified aircraft were shot down and others were severely damaged. Moles, shipping and stores at Benghazi were again heavily attacked during Friday night. Direct hits were obtained on two ships and large fires broke out on quays and on the Italian and Cathed-j ral moles.
A successful raid was made on aerodromes at Castel Benito (north of Tripoli). Bombs, which fell among dispersed aircraft, destroyed one bomber and damaged others. Fires were started near the hangars. From these and other operations all our aircraft returned safely.”
