WANT TO CARRY WAR INTO GERMANY TESTIMONY OF AMERICAN CONGRESSMAN. - PROPAGANDA SHORTCOMINGS. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) LONDON, November 30. “The men and women of England not only want to win the war but want the war carried aggressively into Germany. It is something America does not know. Nobody has attempted to tell her and America thinks that all Britain is trying to do is to stave oft' an invasion.” This was stated by Mr Melvin Maas, a member of the United States House of Representatives Naval Affairs Committee, who is a group captain in the United States naval air service. He is a member of a mixed party of American Congressmen who have completed a fortnight study of Britain at war.
Mr Maas added: “When we left America we shared the view of the rest of our countrymen that Britain was pursuing an isolationist policy. Britain has done a bad propaganda job in America. You have misrepresented yourselves and us. We shall be able to tell Americans something different.” In a joint statement the party said: “We were given complete freedom to go where we wanted and talk with whom we wanted. We believe that our visit will result in a better understanding of the common problems of the two nations.”
