SALE AT FEILDING VALUES STEADY. STRONG DEMAND FOR RUN CATTLE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, November 28. Values were steady in all sections of the sale at Feilding today, with a particularly strong demand for run cattle, quotations for these being about £5 10s above last week. Not a great amount of interest was shown in fat sheep, where the entry was about sufficient for market requirements. Extra prime wethers made 20s 10d to 21s lOd, prime ditto 18s 7d to 20s 4d, others 15s 4d to 17s lOd, prime ewes 10s 4d to 12s Id, unfinished 6s 4d to 9s 7d, prime hoggets 21s 7d to 22s lOd, light 17s 6d to 18s 7d. Very few stores were offered, but prices remained firm for good young ewes. Two-tooth wethers, good, made 18s 9d, small 13s 9d, ditto, ewes, best 26s 6d to 275, others 23s 3d. Outside buyers were operating strongly for run cattle and practically all of the large entry was sold at auction. Two-year-old cattle were keenly wanted, prices for these advancing up to 10s a head. Good yearling A.A. steers made £5 2s to £5 16s, small £4 Is, yearling A.A. heifers, best £4 14s to £5 ss, others £2 17s to £4 10s, twoyear heifers £6 6s to £6 17s 6d, forward A.A. cows £5 7s 6d to £6 Is, others £4 6s to £5, two-year A.A. steers, best £7 15s to £8 12s 6d, smaller £6 19s to £7 10s, good threeyear A.A. steers £9 10s to £lO 6s, smaller £8 15s to £9 2s, two-year Hereford steers £7 to £8 10s, yearling Jersey heifers, good £6 10s, others £2 10s to £4 17s 6d, boner cows £3 to £3 ss. No change was shown in dairy cattle. Best springing heifers made £8 15s to £lO, later calvers £5 6s to £B, heifers in milk £9 10s, springing cows £9 ss, cows in milk £7 ss. In the fat cattle section beef met with a keen sale at rates slightly advanced on last week. Prime A.A. heifers made £8 17s 6d to £9 7s 6d, light prime £8 2s 6d to £8 15s, others £6 7s 6d to £7 17s 6d, prime A.A. Hereford cows £8 17s 6d to £9 17s 6d, lighter prime £8 2s 6d to £8 12s 6d, ex dairy cows £3 17s 6d to £5 7s 6d, prime A. A. bullocks £l2 12s 6d to £l3 17s 6d, lighter £lO 12s 6d to £ll 17s 6d, vealers £2 12s 6d to £2 15s. Pigs: Small weaners made 6s to 10s, good 15s, slips 17s to 235, stores 27s to 325, porkers 44s to 465. Poultry: Hens Is 6d to 4s 6d, cockerels Is 9d to 4s 3d, young cockerels 7d to Is 7d, ducks Is 6d to 2s 6d, ducklings 9d, turkey hens ss. CARTERTON SALE FAT HOGGETS MAKE GOOD VALUES. PIGS BRING LATE RATES. Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report as follows:—There was a small entry at our Carterton sale yesterday. A fair number of fat ewes were offered but met with weak competition. Fat hoggets and b.f. 2-ths. made good values. Store 2-th. wethers also sold well. Cattle made values about the same as last week. A big entry of pigs came forward and these sold at late values. The following are the prices:— Sheep: Fat woolly hoggets, to 27s 6d; fat b.f. wethers, 22s 2d to 22s 7d; fat shorn ewes, 9s lOd, 10s, 10s 2d to 12s 2d; fat spring lambs, to 22s 4d; small shorn 2-th. ewes, to 19s; shorn 2-th. wethers, to 17s 7d; small shorn ■ 2-tlk wethers, to 14s 6d. Cattle: Jersey heifers in milk, £6, £6 10s to £7 12s 6d; springing cows, to £5 10s; cows and calves, £3, £4 to £4 17s 6d; fat cows, £4 15s, £5 2s 6d, £5 10s to £6 15s; forward cows, £3 10s, £4 to £4 10s; store cows, 30s to £2 16s; yearling Jersey heifers, £4 15s, £5 2s 6d, to £5 10s; bulls, 12s 6d, 20s, £3 to £6; forward steers, £7 5s to £8 15s. Pigs: Baconers, £3 10s, £3 15s to £3 19s; heavy porkers, £2 11s, £2 17s to £2 19s; porkers, 395, 40s, 42s to 455; light porkers, 31s to 375; store pigs, 25s to 265; slips, 22s 6d to 235; weaners (good), 18s 6d to 20s; weaners (medium), 16s to 18s; weaners (small), 9s to 17s.
