AMERICAN LABOUR
COMPULSORY ARBITRATION OPPOSED NATIONAL CONFERENCE SUGGESTED. ON VOLUNTARY SETTLEMENT METHODS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) WASHINGTON, November 26. The president of the Congress of Industrial Organisations, Mr Philip Murray, has proposed to President Roosevelt that he should call a national conference of representatives of labour, industry and the Government to plan voluntary methods for settling industrial disputes and to guarantee maximum defence production. The president of the American Federation of Labour, Mr William Green, told Mr Roosevelt that the federation was uncompromisingly opposed to all pending anti-strike measures.
