DEATH OF JOCKEY
FOUND TO BE ACCIDENTAL. \ (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND. This Day. A judicial inquiry into the accident at the Waikato Racing Club’s meeting at Te Rapa, which resulted in the death of the jockey, R. W. McTavish, was conducted by the judicial committee, which heard evidence from L. C. Brown, R. Sargent, R. E. Horne and A. Sinton, riders who were involved in the fall, and also from T. Green, N. R. McKenzie, and J. Williamson, other riders in the race.
The committee found that the accident was caused through Golden Valley striking the heels of one of the two horses in front, Royal Melody oi Lady Pay. The evidence proved that McTavish’s mount was not interfered with in any way, and that the occurrence was purely accidental.
