THROWN INTO MOSCOW BATTLE BY GERMANS Ground Gained at Some Points FIGHTING CONTINUES IN STREETS OF ROSTOV THREE GERMAN DIVISIONS ROUTED WELL TO WESTWARD LONDON, November 24. Moscow admits that the threat to the capital has become more serious in the past 24 hours. Hitler has thrown in more than 40 divisions, as compared with 17 divisions in the last Moscow offensive, and half of his total armoured force. The Germans claim to have reached a point 40 miles north-west of the capital. Russian troops in one area have withdrawn to new defence lines. In other sectors of the Moscow front the Germans have made some progress but in one case the Russians repelled a German attack on a main road and in another the Russians counter-attacked and recaptured a village. While they report continued fierce fighting in the streets of Rostov, on the Don, the Russians also state that they have routed three German divisions and are now pursuing them.4o miles west of Rostov.
