CARTERTON
PATRIOTIC WORK DISTRICT’S SPLENDID RECORD. (“Times-Age” Special.) The patriotic work which the people of Carterton and the surrounding districts are carrying out is worthy .of the J best traditions of the South Wairarapa. 1 Even away back in the days of the Z Boer War, Carterton was to the fore in providing men and money, while in the Great War the district established a most enviable reputation in its patriotic activities. In the present war Carterton is more than doing its fair share, and is determined that the maximum of help in the war effort and on behalf of the soldiers shall be achieved. Personals. Pte. K. Townsend, Carterton, who was posted as killed in action in Crete in May last, has written to his wife stating that he is a prisoner of war in Germany. Private Basil R. Blatchford, who had been on leave from the Waiouru Military Camp, returned yesterday. Mr W. Hayden, of Holloway Street, Carterton, yesterday entered the Masterton Hospital for treatment.
