A sum, probably exceeding £lOO a week is being lost to the State in rent as a result of newly-completed Government homes in Auckland being untenanted because they cannot at present be supplied with electric power. Shortage of essential materials, and not shortage of current, is the reason, anff although the position is better than it was recently, when about 300 homes were awaiting power connection, a substantial number of new State and private dwellings remain unoccupied for lack of electricity supply.
