BOROUGH WORK

LAST MONTH’S ACTIVITIES. REPORTS BEFORE COUNCIL MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the Masterton Borough Council last night the engineer, Mr C. R. Mabson. submitted a detailed report on engineering activities during the past month. Dealing with street work he reported that Kuripuni, Cricket, Victoria, Sussex and Albert streets had received attention. The flanks of Cambridge Terrace had also been tar sealed. A start had been made vzith the work of repainting white lines, etc. The time limit parking signs had been fittted with brackets and had been re-erected on verandahs and other posts in Queen Street. A considerable quantity of sand had been stored for tar-sealing work. The Gas Manager, Mr J. Y. Douglas, stated that 3,758,300 cubic feet of gas was manufactured last month. of the bottom plates on the works gas holder were again leaking and more patching work would be necessary. During the month the water gas plant was overhauled. In general the works were running satisfactorily.
