THE ITALIAN REMNANT IN ABYSSINIA MORE & MORE DESERTIONS. EXECUTIONS IN GONDAR FOR DEFEATISM. LONDON, November 12. In Abyssinia the small remaining bands of Italian troops are in desperate straits—short of food and clothing. A Nairobi communique reports that more and more European and askaris are deserting to the British ranks .The state of the prisoners’ boots shows how badly off the enemy is for supplies. The Italian commander at Gondar is reported to be imposing an increasing severity of discipline. Two European soldiers and several askaris are stated, to have been shot for defeatist talk.
