Mrs Bett, Nelson, is staying with the Misses Morrison, Lansdowne.

Mrs C. A. Dempsey has returned to Pahiatua from a holiday spent in Feilding. Mrs Clarke, Hamilton, is the guest of Mrs F. C. Daniell, Essex Street, Masterton.

Miss Joyce Hodgins, elder daughter of Mr and the late Mrs C. Hodgins, Tane, who has joined the nursing staff of the Hastings Public Hospital, was farewelled in the Tane schoolroom by a large gathering of friends and presented with- a pendant. The death occurred recently of Mrs E. A. Eagle, who was born in Karori in 1854, and lived there most of her life. After her marriage to the late Mr John E. Eagle, they went to Carterton to live, and from there to Makara, where they farmed for a number of years. In 1903 they retired to Karori, where Mrs Eagle died. She was one of an old pioneering family, being a daughter of the late Mrs Coinford, who died seven years ago, at the age of 104 years. Her husband predeceased her eight years ago. She leaves a family of four sons and four daughters. The sons are Messrs John Eagle (Ohau), Charles Eagle (Makara), William Eagle (Te Horo) and Stephen Eagle (Karori), and the daughters Mesdames J. Bowler (Shannon), E. Allen (Shannon), J. Hoskins (Palmerston North), and R. A. Williamson (Karori).
