STIPEND OF MINISTERS. MINIMUM FIXED BY ASSEMBLY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) TIMARU, November 11. A standard minimum stipend for 1942 of £3lO, with an objective of £330, was approved by the Presbyterian Assembly tonight . on. the recommendation of the sessional committee. The present minimum stipend is £2BO. Stipends of home missionaries were fixed as follows: Ordained and married, £220; single, £203; unordained and married, £203; single, £194. An increase in the child allowance of £lO yearly for each child under 16, and where education is continued to 21 was approved, for home missionaries. The assembly* approved the establishment of a substantial maintenance of the ministry fund to support ministers on minimum stipends and home missionaries. It was agreed that a proportion of bequests and legacies not earmarked for other purposes be credited to the fund and steps taken to secure donations and legacies.
