FEATHERSTON

FELLOWSHIP OF YOUTH A HAPPY GATHERING. (“Times-Age” Special.) A happy time was spent at the Fel-

lowship of Youth gathering last night in the parish hall when a large number of young people were present. During the evening a very interesting talk on “Toe H” was given by the Rev. J. R. Higgs, who was one of the original members in London. Armistice Day. In connection with Armistice Day yesterday Miss Card, representing the Women’s National Reserve Soldiers’ Graves Committee, placed a wreath on the War Memorial. A service was held in the Anglican Church. National Savings. The Featherston quota of £155 was reached yesterday and the pennant will be flown at the masthead at the Post Office for the rest of the week. It is to be hoped that' Featherston will live up to its reputation and keep the flag flying. Personal Items. Miss Ray Buck is visiting Wellington. Mr and Mrs H. Hart are spending a holiday in the South Island. Miss Tyer, who has been the guest of Mrs Bergh, has returned to Masterton. The funeral of the late Private McKenna took place this morning and was largely attended. The pall-bearers were from the Ruahine Regiment, Masterton. The cortege included a unit from the Waiouru Camp, under Lieut. Bell. The firing squad from Trentham Camp was in charge of Lieut. Free. The Rev. Father Devlin conducted the services at the church and the graveside. A large number of wreaths were forwarded. Swimming Club. The Swimming Club will hold its annual meeting on Thursday night at 7.30 o'clock in the Red Cross Society’s room. A good attendance is hoped for. Table Tennis Club. The following were the results of competitions held by the Table Tennis Club on Monday night in the Parish Hall, when the season was brought to a close: Miss Card’s trophy, Miss C. Saba; ladies’ championship, Miss F. Saba; men’s championship, Mr Don Sim. I During the evening Miss Alice Johnson, on behalf of the club, presented Mr D. W. McNamara with a fountain pen. The recipient suitably replied.
