BUMPS ON LAWNS
HOW TO DEAL WITH THEM. On lawns laid down a year ago slight depressions may have appeared. These should now be remedied. Too often the offending area is rolled and rolled in the vain hope that the rolling will level the bumps. This it will never do. The most satisfactory way of performing the operation is to cut through the turf with a sharp spade making a letter H. The cut turf may then be folded back on either side of the cross cut and soil either added or subtracted as the case may be. The correct alteration having been made the turves when folded back should be slightly above the level of the lawn. By the time they have thoroughly settled a dead level should be obtained.
