KINDNESS TO ANIMALS

Humane education should be a part of the regular school curriculum, asserts an American writer. It is already a required subpect in 27 States, and it is to be hoped that proper legislation may be enacted in other States to promote the teaching of humanity in all schools. Kindness and thoughtfulness toward animal friends implant in the individual characterists which influence his every relationship. If the teacher would devote even one halfhour a week to the subject much would be accomplished. The cultivation of the spirit of kindness to animals is but the starting-point toward character building, and furnishes a common ground for such moral teaching as all good citizens hold vital to a people’s welfare.
