SITUATION ON THE MOSCOW FRONT
Immense German Force Deployed ATTEMPTS TO OUTFLANK TULA NAZIS ADMIT STIFF RUSSIAN DEFENCE IN CRIMEA (By Telegraph.—Press Association— Copyright.) (Received This Day, 12.45 p.m.) LONDON, November 11. The situation on the Moscow front has again become critical, says “The Times’’ Stockholm correspondent. The maximum German weight is at present being directed against the Tula region. The Germans are using reinforcements from Orel and Kursk in attempting to outflank Tula, and simultaneously are hammering at Tula from the west, The Germans have progressed slightly between Tula and Malo Yaroslavets towards Serpukhov, but there is no indication that the Russian defences are likely to break here or elsewhere. However the position is very serious. The German armies between Kalinin and Kursk are estimated, at 2,000,000 men. The Berlin radio claimed that Axis forces, thrusting from Yalta, had made contact with units which are investing Sebastopol, but “The Times’’ correspondent on the German frontier says the Wilhelmstrasse admits that the Russian resistance m the Crimea has greatly stiffened.
