NEED OF MEN
FOR OVERSEA SERVICE STRONG PLEA BY GENERAL BLAMEY. AUSTRALIA NOT YET PULLING HER WEIGHT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) ' CANBERRA, November 11. An urgent plea for additional men and equipment for the Australian Imperial Force overseas to gear up its efficiency and make it an even more powerful fighting force was made to the War Cabinet today by the General Officer Commanding the A.1.F., General Sir Thomas Blarney; who had a long discussion on vital problems affecting the future disposition of the Australian troops under his command in the Middle East. He asked the War Cabinet to strain every nerve to secure an even larger output of most modern war equipment.
Interviewed later, General Blarney said he saw no indication that Germany had reached her maximum strength. Australia was not yet pulling her full weight, while much ultimately depended on America’s attitude, he added.
