AT LEAST 300 FIGHTERS OVER FRANCE
FACTORIES DESTROYED.
FIFTEEN BRITISH PLANES LOST.
(British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, November 8. At least 300 fighters, including bomb-carrying Hurricanes, were in action simultaneously in today’s operations over occupied France, says the Air Ministry. A factory at Saint Pol was left in flames, after which a factory at Lens as well as trucks on the siding, were destroyed. When the British machines began the operations, the crews observed people running in all directions, but after bombs had been dropped they waved to the raiders. During the operations near Lens attacks were made by a large force of enemy fighters. They were engaged by our fighter escort, and many combats took place. Four enemy fighters were dstroyed during the day’s Fifteen of our fighters are missing, but the pilot of one is safe. Our bombers suffered no casualties.
ATTACK ON RUHR
HEAVY EXPLOSIONS CAUSED • IN ESSEN.
LONDON, November 9.
The Air Ministry announces that R.A.F. bombers were again over Germany last night. Essen and other industrial towns in the Ruhr were storngly attacked. At Essen heavy explosions were followed by fires. Successful attacks were also made on the docks at Ostend and Dunkirk. Eight R.A.F. bombers are missing from these operations.

FIVE HUNDRED BRITISH PLANES. EMPLOYED ON FRIDAY NIGHT. LONDON, November 9. Five hundred planes participated in the raids against Germany and the occupied countries on November 7.
