On Germany and Occupied Territories HEAVY LOSS OF BOMBERS ON FRIDAY NIGHT ON ACCOUNT OF APPALLING WEATHER CONDITIONS LONDON, November 9. The third of three consecutive and damaging offensives by the Royal Air Force was delivered last night, this time against Western Germany and with the armament manufacturing town of Essen as the principal target. The first of these operations on Friday night, against Berlin and other objectives, was the biggest to date. Yesterday, a great force of fighters attacked Northern France. Last night Essen bore the principal brunt of the attack, though other towns in Western Germany were also bombed. Bombs were also dropped successfully on docks at Ostend and Dunkirk. Eight British bombers are missing from last night’s operations. At the other end of the air front Naples was again bombed and an Italian report admits that serious havoc was wrought in the city. In enemy raids last night, some damage was done in eastern and south-eastern England. Casualties included a few people killed,
