The following precis of a report on the fine service of the late Lieutenant A. Gordon Hultquist, M.P., whose death was reported this week, made by Captain Borman, commander of the section in which the deceased officer served, has been sent to the Prime Minister by Major-General Freyberg. It reads: “In Greece and especially in Crete, in the face of almost insurmountable difficulties, he showed unfailing energy in maintaining communications. This, together with his gallant behaviour on' the evacuation from the beaches, caused me to report most favourably on his conduct on my return to Egypt.” Lieutenant Hultquist was second in charge of an infantry brigade signalling section, giving him individual command.
