ENEMY IN APPROACHES OF MOSCOW NAZIS CLAIM PROGRESS IN CRIMEA. POSITION IN DONETZ BASIN. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.25 a.m.) LONDON, November 7. The Red Army is unmercifully battering the enemy as he attempts to approach Moscow, says the Tass , News Agency. The Germans are still moving up reinforcements, especially tanks and artillery. A German spokesman said such appalling weather was prevailing on the Moscow front that large-scale operations were impossible. A German communique states that German and Rumanian troops in the Crimea successfully continue their pursuit, despite the difficult mountain country and stubborn fighting by the bnemy rearguards. The Luftwaffe smashed enemy positions in the fortified area of Sebastopol. German and Italian units in the Donetz Basin are fighting their way forward. Infantry' divisions on the central sector of the front pierced enemy positions. Helsinki reports that the Germans and Finns have launched an offensive against the White Sea coast, from a point >35 miles west of the Murmansk Railway.
The Moscow radio, said German bombers attempted to raid Moscow last night while Stalin was speaking, but were driven off by a specially fierce barrage. The all clear was sounded at the end of the meeting.
