. TENNIS MEETING AT KAHUTARA. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the annual meeting of the Kahutara Tennis Club Mr H. E. Playle presided. ’ The election of officers resulted as follows: Chairman, Mr H. E. Playle; secretary, Miss Lucy Hood; treasurer, Mrs Playle; auditor, Mr Siemonek; club captain, Mr Playle. It 'was decided to hold a meeting next week to decide the date for opening the courts for the season. Lecture on Canteen V/ork. The Primary School cooking room was filled yesterday afternoon when Miss Hitchens gave a lecture in canteen work with particular mention to the use which could be made of fireless cookers and hay boxes. Useful ideas for keeping milk and butter cool in summer by underground storage were also given. All present are looking forward to next week’s lecture. Christmas Cheer Card Party. There was an excellent attendance at the euchre party to raise money for the Buchanan Home Christmas Cheer Fund held last evening. The winners of cards were Miss Card and Mrs Lowell. Mr Cassidy won the consolation prize. Chocolates (donated by Mrs E- White) were won by Mr S. Reid, who handed the box back for another competition next week. Mrs A. Edwards also donated her trophy for next week’s party. A cash donation of £1 was received from Mrs G. S. Sharp. Goods were donated by Mrs E. O’Neale, Mrs McKenna, Mrs Nicol, Miss Card, Mrs Shepherd, Mrs Lowell, and Mrs Elliot; Personal Items. Having been the guest of her mother, Mrs Blatchford, at the Wairarapa Training Farm, Mrs Alan Burt and her daughter have returned to their home in Featherston.
