TURKISH STEAMER
SUNK BY RUSSIAN SUBMARINE WHILE CARRYING SUPPLIES FOR GERMANS. CREWS OF OTHER VESSELS REFUSE TO SAIL. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day. 11.50 a.m.) ISTANBUL, November 6. A Soviet submarine on November 3 allegedly sank a small Turkish freighter carrying Turkish products to Burgas, Bulgaria, for transhipment to Germany. The crew were allowed to take to their lifeboats before the freighter was sunk by gunfire. A number of similar ships destined for the same voyage ceased loading and refused to sail.
