TOTAL CONSCRIPTION
UNDER CONSIDERATION IN BRITAIN. 1 FOR MEMBERS OF BOTH SEXES. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.9 p.m.) LONDON, November 6. The Government is considering, a total conscription Bill, says the “Star’s” political writer. It would empower the Government to place any man or woman of any 'age where they would be likely to" be of the greatest service, whether in the fighting forces or industry. The Labour Minister, Mr Ernest Bevin, already has power to “direct” men aged 41 or more, and women of any age, into work of national importance, but he cannot make them join any branches of the fighting services or the women’s auxiliaries.
