PIERCED ON THE MOSCOW FRONT

I Vigorous and Successful Russian Attacks INHABITED POINTS RECOVERED I MANY TANKS DESTROYED ON MOJAISK ROAD (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.) ' (Received This Day, 12.10 p.m.) LINDON, November 6. German positions on the Moscow front have been pierced and the Germans have retreated at several points, with heavy losses, says the lass News Agency. Fighting was particularly obstinate on the left and right flanks of the Moscow front. A Soviet infantry unit, supported by strong artillery fire, attacked ■the Germans in two districts and seized several inhabited points from the enemy, in addition to cutting railway lines. A Russian tank unit captured a village", after a two hours ’ fight, on November 4 and drove the enemy to a point from which he was still further pushed back on November 5. Another unit, in a neighbouring sector; also drove back the enemy, capturing two important positions and inflicting heavy losses. The Red Army, operating on the left flank of the central front, continued for a fourth day to push back the enemy, annihilating its vanguard mercilessly. Soviet cavalry, co-opei-ating with the forces on the left flank, fought superior enemy troops and succeeded in reaching the rear of an enemy formation on the night of November 4. Fierce battles resulted, but the enemy was forced to retreat. At dawn on November 5 the enemy again launched a large formation of tanks in the direction of Mojaisk and attempted to pierce our defences along the read to Mojaisk, but concentrated artillery fire repulsed the assault, leaving many German tanks damaged or smashed.
