■ APPOINTMENT OF MAXIM LITVINOV CHAMPION OF COLLECTIVE SECURITY. AGAINST AGGRESSION. • LONDON, November 6. M. Maxim Litvinov has been appointed Soviet Ambassador to the United States and will take over that position at an early date. M. Litvinov, who has had a brilliant diplomatic career, is 65 years of age. His wife is an Englishwoman. He will be remembered as the Russian champion of collective security against aggression. His appointment is taken as indicating the importance M. Stalin attaches to the closest possible collaboration with the United States.
