LOW FENCES

IN RESIDENTIAL AREAS. A CHRISTCHURCH AGITATION. The Christchurch Beautifying AssociI ation is continuing to press its agitation for low fences in residential areas. “It is a pity that lack of funds prevents us from reaching the mass of the people,”, says the annual report on this subject. “Every citizen can add his frontage to the beauty of the city, yet in too many cases he has an old and ugly front! fence. We could by advertisement ask him to look at it and consider whether he could take it out altogether. Even a low kerbing is better than the average picket fence of endless jarring design and colours.”
