ARMED FORCES APPEAL BOARD ' SITTING IN MASTERTON YESTERDAY. LIST OF CASES. The sitting of the No. 4A Armed Forces Appeal Board was continued at the Masterton Courthouse yesterday afternoon when appeals in respect to overseas service were dealt with. The board comprised Messrs H. B. Lusk chairman), F. R. Field and W. H. Barry. Appeals on the ground of public interest and undue hardship were dealt with as follows:— Kenneth Raymond Townsend, dairy farm hand (appeal lodged by reservist and and T. Townsend). —Adjourned sine die. The reservist was directed to join the Home Guard within 14 days. Herbert Ronald Frew, farmer (E. Frew). —Adjourned sine die. Desmond Charles Hawke, farm hand (Mrs E. Hawke).—Adjourned sine die. Alister George Yule, shepherd and farm hand (G. E. Yule). —Appeal adjourned until March,. 1942. Henry Percy Blatchford, farm hand, for whom Mr R. R. Burridge appeared (D. Blatchford). A postponement of service was requested.—Appeal dismissed, subject to reservist not being called up prior to January 1, 1942. Roy Charles Walter Amos, shepherd (R. N. Nicol). A postponement of service was asked for.—The appeal was dismissed, subject to the reservist performing service after January 1, 1942. John David Lulham, fire brigadesman (Masterton Fire Board). An extension of time was asked for by the Superintendent, Mr T. B. Clarke. —The appeal was adjoui’ned for six months. An appeal by the Bidwill Dairy Company against the calling up of Rodney Benten, first assistant, was adjourned sine die. William Jack Pringle, farm hand (William R. Pringle).—Appeal dismissed, reservist to serve after March 31, 1942. Malcolm Arthur Hodder (Mrs Anne Hodder). —Appeal dismissed, the reservist to serve after March 31, 1942. SITTING CONCLUDED. CASES DEALT WITH TODAY. The first sitting of the recently constituted No. 4A Armed Forces Appeal Board was concluded in Masterton today. An appeal by William Hugh Millar, wood-cutting contractor, on the grounds of conscientious objection, was dismissed, with a proviso that the reservist carry out non-combatant duties. Appeals on the grounds of. undue hardship and public interest were dealt with as follows:— Francis Robert Lambert, threshing mill foreman and agricultural mechanic (L. Sutton).—Appeal adjourned sine die. The reservist was directed to continue serving in the Home Guard. lan James Howat, cowman-shepherd (W. B. Martin).—Adjourned sine die. James Price, farm hand (appeal lodged by reservist).—Adjourned sine die. Hugh Campbell, baker (James M. Campbell).—Adjourned sine die. John Baptist Bourke, shepherd (A. D. Carson).—Appeal dismissed, reservist to serve after January 1, 1942. . Edward John Gordon Blackmur, shepherd (W. S. Cameron). Appeal dismissed, reservist to serve after March 1, 1942.
