REGISTERED NURSES

WAIRARAPA BRANCH. INTERESTING ADDRESS. The monthly meeting of the Registered Nurses’ Association was held in the.Nurses’ Home, Masterton Hospital, last evening. There was a large attendance, presided over by Mrs W. James. Arrangements for the annual meeting were finalised. A vote of appreciation was passed by the president to the Interhouse Girls’ Association for the sum of £2l towards the Nurse Phyllis Matthews Fund. The speaker for the evening was Dr. Palmer, of Greytown, whose subject was “Vitamins.” He gave details of the latest research with these vital substances, and quoted from reports showing how the medical authorities in England were substituting different vegetables and fruits to take the place of imported ones, so that the vitamin intake could be maintained during food rationing. The lecture was listened to with great interest and Dr. Palmer was heartily thanked by the president. Miss J. Denham, of the Greytown Hospital, who is to go on duty with the Army Nursing Service, was presented with a travelling manicure set from members of the branch.

The serving of supper brought an enjoyable gathering to a close.
