RIVERSIDE CLUB CLOSING OF SEASON. PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES. Ideal weather prevailed for the closday function of the Riverside Golf Club held on Saturday afternoon. A large number of members and visitors were present. A mixed Canadian foursome over nine holes was played, the best card being handed in by Miss Bradley and R. Wearne. A putting competition was won by Miss J. Dixon and J. Wakelin. Afternoon tea was served. The president, Mr W. J. Palamontain, welcomed the visitors. He said that he hoped everybody had spent a pleasant afternoon. Notwithstanding the fact that several members were on active service, those remaining had supported the club loyally and enabled it to carry on. He had much pleasure in presenting Mr C. Leigh with the mounted golf ball which he played recently when he performed the much coveted golfer’s honour—a hole in one. Those present showed their appreciation in a suitable manner. Trophies were presented to the winners of the various competitions during the season as follows:— Men, senior champion, A. Bell; intermediate champion, R. Hatch; junior champion, A. Carstens. President’s trophv, A. Dixon; captain's trophy, N. Everett; R.S.A. trophy, first round, (third stableford),.R. Wearne; second round (sixth stableford), F. Shearer; first medal round, R. H. Simpson; second medal, H. Keisenberg; first stableford, D. Grimwood; third medal, N. Everett; first fourball bogey, R. Bell and J. Wakelin; second stableford, R. Leathern; fourth medal, W. Palamontain; second fourball bogey, C. Leigh and J. Ewen; fourth stableford, and flag competition, R. Bell; fifth stableford, A. Carstens; first bogey round, H. Keisenberg and R. Bell, tied; fifth medal. F. Hallam; third fourball bogey, R. A. Callander and R. Wellington; consolation handicap, J. Ewen. Other matches played during the season were the "Bobbin ’ singles won by J. Lulham, nmner-up being R. Bell. The doubles was won by S. Burridge and C. Leigh, the runners-up being W. Petty and G. Challis. Ladies, senior champion, Miss R. G. Bradley; intermediate champion, Mrs F. Naan; junior champion, Mrs L. Cross. President’s trophy, Mrs Palamontain; captain’s trophy, Mrs Rawlins; R.S.A. trophy, Mrs Skeet; first medal, sealed nett score, Miss R. Bradley; second medal sealed nett score and a fourball bogey, Mrs Palamontain; a fourball bogey, flag competition and seventh medal round, Mrs Clark; sixth medal round (prize donated by Mrs L. Cross), Mrs C. Clarke; first stableford and first bogey rounds, Mrs Nancarrow; third medal and a fourball bogey, Mrs Haughey; second stableford and a fourball bogey, Mrs Rawlins; third stableford, Mrs Connell; a fourball bogey, Miss J. Dixon; a fourball bogey and ladies “Bobbin” competition, Miss Shearer. A prize was donated by Miss R. Bradley for weekend matches for ladies only and was won by Mrs Rawlins. Concert and Dance, In the evening a concert and dance was held at the Savage Club rooms, and was largely attended by members and visitors from other clubs. A very attractive concert programme, included sketches by members of the Savage Club, musical items, tap dancing, and card tricks which received hearty applause from the attentive audience. A buffet savoury supper was served by the ladies’ committee, and was followed by a very enjoyable dance. The gathering was brought to a close with the singing of Auld Lang Syne. The music for dancing was supplied by Mr S. Wyatt, assisted by Mrs J. Dicksori and Mr F. Pool. MASTERTON CLUB STABLEFORD COMPETITIONS. The following were the results of the Stableford competitions played over the weekend: — A grade: C. Campbell Heard, 37; C. Faulknor, 37; H. L. Esau, 36; R. Baker, 35. B grade: W. H. Saunders, 37; J. C. Forsyth, 34; R. Page, 34; H. H. Daniell, 34. During the weekend a match, ladies v. men, was played and resulted in a win for the men. A stableford competition was played in conjunction with this match and the best cards handed in were: —Mrs R. R. Burridge, 28; Mrs I. Knell, 28; G. T. O’Hara Smith, 33; B. Bidwill, 32. MAHUNGA CLUB. LADIES’ MEDAL ROUND. A medal round was played on Saturday by lady members of the Mahunga Golf Club, the. following being the best scores: —Mrs G. D. Caldwell, 92, 21, 71; Miss E. Wyber, 94, 22, 72. The best net scores returned for the medal round played on Saturday were: J. Thornton 68, O. V. Berry 69, A. H. Ward 69, M. Dallas 70.
