SPEEDY AID
PROMISED TO RUSSIA ' BY U.S.A. SHIPMENTS TO PERSIAN GULF. FIRST TO LEAVE SOON. NEW YORK, November 1. The “Herald Tribune’s” Washington correspondent says the Government ihas taken a significant step to speed aid to Russia by preparing a 'regular shipping service between American ports and the Persian Gulf, .which is the safest rcute for supplies to Russia. The Maritime Commission has completed its plans, and the first ships* plying between American ports and Bandar Shapur—terminus of the Iranian railway on the Persian Gulf —will sail soon. Tanks, planes and guns are to be transported in. everincreasing quantities by this route. The “New York Times” says: “The fast-moving events in Russia have prompted the adoption by the Administration of a policy whereby combat planes and war materials are to be supplied to the Soviet even at the expense of the United States army, subject only to limitations of transportation. One possibility now is that the United States might shorten the time for hurrying cargoes to Russia by sending existing material from Hawaii or the Philippines, replacing it by consignments from the mainland.” SOVIET REPORT BATTLES ON ALL FRONTS.
