SKIRMISH IN AFRICA

ENEMY IRREGULARS DEFEATED. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.58 a.m.) RUGBY, October 20. A joint Army and Air communique, issued at Nairobi, states: “A detachment of our troops, moving on the Dessie-Gondar Road, was attacked by enemy mounted irregulars on Saturday. After a two hours’ engagement, in which grenades and light machineguns were used, the enemy were driven off and dispersed. “There was little activity by the South African Air Force operating in the Gondar area yesterday.”
