NATIONAL SAVINGS

QUOTA SYSTEM WORKING WELL COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN GRATIFIED. HOPES OF UNIVERSAL SUPPORT. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. “The excellent results recorded last week, in connection with the introduction of the National Savings quota system are still very much in evidence,” said the chairman of the National Savings Committee (Mr T. N. Smallwood) today. “The quota system having only recently been introduced,” added Mr Smallwood, “it is only to be expected that some areas are not yet fully organised, but it is very gratifying to note that the system generally has been favourably received and that many of the local committees are already working energetically towards a realisation cf their quotas week by week. Moneyballs, indicating day by day progress, and flags indicating the attainment of the weekly quotas, are appearing on post office flagpoles throughout the country, and these symbols indicate in a very happy way the increasing determination of citizens in all walks of life to see that adequate funds are provided for carrying on New Zealand’s part in the war.”

Among offices that exceeded their quota for the week ended October 25 are Pahiatua and Pongaroa.
