Reviewing the military situation this morning, the Moscow radio said that Soviet troops were launching counter-attacks in a number of sectors on the Moscow front. The Red Army .had repulsed all attempts to cross the River Naro and was also firmly holding the crossings over the River Oka. “Our tanks and mechanised infantry orAtfie Moscow front have recaptured of a town,” it stated. “Our troops in the Malo Yaroslavets sector are advancing after repulsing German counter-attacks. “The Germans in the Orel sector appear to be still attempting a major thrust from the south of Moscow, and are throwing in huge forces of tanks and mechanised infantry, but the Russians are holding them. The Germans have not progressed since the beginning of these attacks three days ago. “Soviet planes in the River Oka area destroyed in the past three days 68 tanks, 35 motor lorries and much other war material. The German dead and wounded numbered 2000.” The Brussels radio announced that Herr Hitler received his Chief of Staff. General von Keitel, and the Comman-der-in-Chief, General von Brauchitsch at his headquarters on the Eastern Front.
