CLIPPER SERVICE
FIRST AUCKLAND-SUVA
FLIGHT.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, October 28
The first flight to Auckland via Suva will be made by the Pacific Clipper, which will leave San Francisco on Sunday, and is due here on Saturday, November 8.
It was expected that after the first trip the Clippers would arrive at Auckland every second Wednesday and leave the following day to return to San Francisco, via Suva, said Mr P. S. Delany, South Pacific traffic manager of Pan-American Airways. The new route brought Suva within three days .from the United States, six days from London, 1-1- days from Auckland, and 21 days from Sydney. The Clippers will be able to accommodate about 45 passengers between Auckland and Suva, and heavier freight loads will be carried as less fuel will be required. Only about 20 to 24 passengers ’ire taken on the clippers at prerent. Negotiations are still being carried out io enable Pan-Ameican Airways to use Palmyra Island as a fuelling base on the flight between Canton Island and Honolulu. If permission is granted to use the island a largei number of passengers will be carried from Auckland to Honolulu.
