SALE AT FEILDING A QUIET TONE. # i ' FAT HOGGETS IN DEMAND. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, October 24. The stock market at Feilding was quiet today, all lines selling at more or less unchanged prices. Fat Sheet: In the fat sheep section, hoggets were in firm demand at keen prices, but wethers were decidedly easier. Ewes also did not come up to last week’s level of prices. Extra prime ewes made 18s Id to 18s lOd; prime, 16s 4d; light unfinished, 9s 4d to 13s lOd; extra prime hoggets, 25s Id to 26s lOd; prime, 22s 4d to 24s 7d (unfinished, 19s lOd to 21s 9d; prime wethers 21s lOd to 22s 7d; plain, 20s Id to 21s 7d; prime lambs, 24s to 25s lOd. In the store sheep section another small entry, mainly of hoggets, held firm at late rates. Best ewe hoggets made 29s to 33s Id; second grade, 26s 6d; small, 23s 2d to 24s 7d; good wether hoggets, 24s 7d to 25s 3d; culls, 15s 3d; blackface hoggets, 14s 9d; ewes and lambs, Ils Id; 4-tooth wethers, 19s 4d. In the store cattle section, run stock did not sell well, no doubt due to the continued wet weather. Sales made, however, were well up to recent quotations. Empty A.A. cows made £3 16s to £4 18s; Shorthorn cows, £5 7s; yearling Hereford steers, £6 5s to £6 14s; yearling A.A, do., £5 8s to £6 ss; yearling Hereford heifers, £3 6s 6d to £3 8s 6d; yearling A.A. heifers, £2 18s to £5 16s; 2-year do.; £6 2s 6d to £7 6s 2d; yearling A.A. steers, £7 Is to £8 4s; 3-year do., £lO 12s 6d; yearling Jersey heifers, good, £5 5s to £6 17s; others £3 16s to £4 19s; Jersey steers, £4 12s 6d to £5; boner cows, £1 17s 6d to £3 ss. In the dairy cattle section, springing heifers and cows nearing profit were again in demand. Best heifers made £lO to £11; later calvers, £6 to £9 ss; springing cows, good £lO 5s to £l2 10s; others £5 15s to £9 ss. Beef was a little easier in the fat cattle section, heavyweight ox- not reaching last week’s figures. Prime ox made l2s 6d to £l3 2s 6d; light prime, £8 12s 6d to £lO 12s 6d; prime heifers £ll 16s fid; light, £5 12s 6d to £7 12s 6d; prime cows, £8 7s 6d to £lO 17s 6d; unfinished, £4 17s 6d to £7 12s 6d. Pigs: Good weaners made Ils to 21s; small, 8s; slips, 23s to 295; stores, 33s 6d to 39s 6d; porkers, 40s 6d to 49s 6d; sows, 355. ■ CARTERTON SALE SHEEP MAKE LATE VALUES. FAT AND FORWARD COWS FIRMER Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report as follows on their Carterton sale yesterday: —There was a fair entry. Sheep made late values. Fat and forward cows were firmer, and springing cows were well up to current prices. There was a heavy yarding of pigs and these made values well up to recent sales. The following are prices:— Sheep: Shorn fat wethers, 22s to 23s 2d; shorn fat ewes, 12s; ewes with b.f. lambs, 10s to 12s 6d (all counted); shorn 2-th. wethers, 17s 6d, 18s; woolly ewe hoggets, 29s 6d; shorn store ewes, 5s 9d; shorn b.f. 2-ths., 20s 3d Cattle: Dairy cows, just calved, £6 5s to £8; springing dairy cows, £7 5s to £8 10s; Jersey heifers, just calved, to £6; Jersey cows on drop, to £lO ss; fat cows, £5 to £6 15s; fat heifers, £6 10s to £6 19s; forward cows, £3 15s to £4 2.05; store cows, £2 to £3 ss; cows and calves, £2 14s to £4 Ils; yearling Jersey heifers, to £4 15s; yearlings (small), to £2 12s'6d.
