GOOD RESULTS

FROM NEW TREATMENT OF WOUNDS USE OF ANIMAL TISSUE EXTRACT. j EXPERIMENTS IN MIDDLE EAST. I (Bv Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) LONDON, October 23. The Jerusalem correspondent of the Associated Press of Great Britain reported that scientists at the Hebrew University Cancer Research Laboratory are working on a discovery which may revolutionise the treatment of wounds—an adult animal tissue extract, which has given sensational results in tens of experimental cases in local and military hospitals. The American, Mrs. Ruth Hoffman, is collaborating with Dr. Leonid Doljansky. Dr. Doljansky found that the extract of adult animal tissue showed an influence on cell proliferation many times greater than embryonic tissue (with which Alexis Carrel experimented) and, as a result, saw possibilities in the use of the extract for the treatment of wounds. Wounds refusing to heal under ordinary treatment responded remarkably to the application of this extract. For instance, a soldier who failed to benefit from one year’s ordinary treatment and faced an amputation, completely recovered the use of his leg after the new treatment.
