S. MATTHEW’S CHURCH

LADIES’ GUILD SALE OF WORK YESTERDAY. A RECORD SUCCESS. St. Matthew’s Parish Hall presented a busy scene all day yesterday when the annual parish sale of work was held. The sale, which was organised by the Ladies’ Guild under Mrs E. J. Rich as president and Mrs J. M. Aikman as secretary, was a record success, the proceeds amounting to over £122. At the end of the sale the Ven. Archdeacon Rich thanked the Guild and all stallholders for their splendid service which was a tower of strength to the parish. The progress of the parish and the magnificent record success gained that day was the result of the happy co-operation of all parishioners. The following were the' stall-holders: Flowers: Mesdames Sheet, Moser, Nairn and PJiss M. Perry. Cakes: Mesdames Alexander and L. Blatchford. Sweets: Mesdames Miller Hope, Burke, Misses Brown, J. James, M. James. Jumble: Mrs Betteridge. Produce: Mesdames Birch, L. B. Maurisell, G. C. Williams. J. Holmes. Work: Mesdames Carpenter, Andrew Heath, and Miss Cresswell. Sunday School: Mrs S. Taylor, Miss Brown. Fireside Circle: Misses Hale, A. Perry, and McEwen. Character study: Mrs Kilgour. Afternoon tea: Mesdames Gray, Smith, Clarke, Thomas, Thompson, Sutherland, Jaine, Kingdon, Wagg, Misses Gray and Oliver.
