MORE VANDALISM
STREET TREES DAMAGED. CO-OPERATION OF RESIDENTS SOUGHT. At last night’s meeting of the Masterton Borough Council the chairman of the Park Committee, Councillor G. D. Wilson, reported that vandalism was continuing concerning the Idesia trees in High Street. The tops of six trees were, deliberately snapped off. He considered that it was a great pity. “I do not think it is the local people,” said Councillor A. T. Jackson. “It is probably the work of a gang of youths.” “We will have to make an example of anyone we catch,” said the Mayor, Mr T. Jordan. Councillor J. Ninnes mentioned that a friend of his had a beautiful bedding display of tulips stolen. He said that if people would stoop to that they would do anything. It was mentioned that the co-opera-tion of residents in stamping out the trouble would be appreciated by the council.
