“GONE WITH THE WIND”

REGENT THEATRE ON FRIDAY. The Regent management, have pleasure in announcing that the eagerly awaited film epic, “Gone With the Wind," will be screened for a limited season commencing on Friday next, at the matinee. The box plan is now open at the theatre only. Assured of a certain amount of appreciative support from those who have read the book, the film draws many others out of curiosity to know why this massive production continues to hold the attention of the audience for nearly four hours wherever it may be shown. It is a tribute to the art of the producer, no less than that of the author and the actors, that the film version holds the interest unabated from the early stages to the end. In reviewing the scenes and the effect they have on the mind and emotions it is impossible to imagine a better cast than that which has been chosen with so much care to portray the clear-cut characters of the story. Vivien Leigh has deservedly been proclaimed everywhere for the perfect characterisation she gives the character of Scarlett O'Hara. The whole story revolves around the character of Scarlett O'Hara—her loves, her hates, her dynamic energy, her selfishness and her courage.

Patrons are expected to be seated by 1.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. daily as the film starts screening immediately at these times, and occupies the whole session.
