PRISONERS OF WAR
RED CROSS WARNS NEXT OF KIN. PROHIBITED ARTICLES SENT IN PARCELS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. A statement by the chairman of the Prisoners of War Inquiry Office draws the attention of next of kin to the fact that many forbidden articles, have been included in parcels for prisoners of war. These include coloured civilian trousers, lumber jackets, a parcel containing cake only, tinned barley sugar and fivepenny international coupons. It is stated that forbidden articles will be taken out of parcels and disposed of by the Order of St. John and the Red Cross Society at its discretion. In view of the fact that many parcels were the first from next of kin, leniency has been shown, items being returned- to’ the senders. In future, forbidden articles will be forfeited by the sender.
