SESSION ENDED
RESUMPTION AT ANY TIME SHOULD WAR SITUATION MAKE IT NECESSARY. LOYAL RESOLUTION PASSED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. After 14 weeks of continuous session, much of which was arduous for members and all associated with the proceedings, the House of Representatives adjourned yesterday afternoon till the Government feels it necessary to summon Parliament again. The formal motion to adjourn placed the date at October 31. The Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, made it clear, however, that should developments in the war situation necessitate the recalling of the House he will not hesitate to bring the members together at any time. A resolution again pledging the country’s resources in the war against Hitlerism was passed. The House met yesterday at 2.30, and after disposing of formal business, including a number of urgent questions to Ministers, adjourned till 5.5 p.m., the last Bills being passed by the Legislative Council and receiving the Royal Assent in the interim. Valedictory speeches concluded the session, the House rising at 5.45 p.m. after the singing of the National Anthem.
