GIFT PARCELS
CAKE AND FRUIT PUDDINGS FOR CIVILIANS,IN BRITAIN. POSTAL CONCESSION. / (Bv Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. In response to representations made by the New Zealand Post Office, the British Ministry of Food had agreed to a request that persons in New Zealand be allowed to post to civilian addressees in the United Kingdom for the forthcoming Christmas period cake and fruit puddings up to the full weight limit of 51b allowed in respect of any one gift parcel. An announcement to this effect was made yesterday by the Postmaster-General, Mr Webb. Normally, the quantity of any one foodstuff enclosed in a parcel may not exceed 21b in weight. This concession will remain in force till November 30, and though no guarantee could be given that the parcels posted under it will reach Great Britain in time for Christmas, the concession will enable senders in New Zealand to send cakes and puddings of a greater weight than is normally possible. The Minister added that there was no change in the conditions applying to parcels for member of Dominion units in the United Kingdom or Dominion members of British units. Parcels weighing up to 111 b are accepted for such addresses provided that in the case of those addressed to Dominion members of British units they are forwarded in care of the New Zealand War Services Association, 415 Strand, London, W.C. 2.
