CHINESE TROOPS
CLOSING ON CHENGCHOW. JAPANESE AND OTHER REPORTS. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.30 a.m.) SHANGHAI. October 13. Japanese despatches report that 200,000 Chinese troops are converging on Chengchow, in a desperate effort to recapture the city. Foreign military sources believe that the Japanese will be forced to abandon Chengchow, because their forces are depleted.
