HOMING PIGEONS

MASTERTON CLUB. FIRST RACE OF SEASON. The Masterton Homing Pigeon Club flew the first race of the 1941 old bird season from Ohakune, an airline distance of 110 miles. The following are the first six placings for club points:— I. Mayes's “Courageous” (2hrs Imin 58sec)‘ 1; C. J. Douglas’s “Dixie” (2hrs 3mins 57sec) 2; Stewart and Sons “Sixty Eight” (2hrs 4min 25sec) 3; C. J. Douglas's “Olive” (2hrs smin 39sec) 4: Stewart and Sons’ “Heavy Weather” (2hrs smin 43sec) 5; J. Mayes’s “Little Danube” (2hrs 6min 49sec) 6. The next race will be from Tamarufiui, 145 miles.

In the points competition C. J. Douglas leads with 10 points, Stewart and Sens being next, with eight points.
